Past Programs

Youth Splash Pass

We were able to fund multiple swim passes for youths between the ages of 11-19 so that they could access and enjoy recreational activities. This program was made possible through a grant offered by Seattle Parks and Recreation and mirrors our Mermaid Pool Pass program. Aquatic therapy and swimming are some of the most popular activities Plus One Foundation is able to fund.

This special program was held between November and December of 2024.

Tai Chi with Plus One

We held a FREE 8-week exercise class for people of all ages with neurological conditions or disabilities and/or their caregivers every Friday from September 15th to November 3rd, 2023 at the Garfield Community Center.

In each class, certified fitness instructor, Collin David, guided participants through Yang-style Tai Chi. It involved continuous, slow and circular movements to improve one’s strength and balance. Each motion had an alternative modification to ensure accessibility for everyone. The goal of this program was to improve the overall health of participants, as well as creating a safe space to build their community.

Summer with
Little Bit

In Partnership with Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center we held three days of Equine-Assisted Learning activities for individuals and families at their center in Redmond, WA. We met and worked with horses like Marshmallow (pictured above) to not only learn about horse care and communication, but also how time with horses can benefit those with neurological condtions.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us, and to all the wonderful volunteers at Little Bit who treated all of us with so much care and shared their wealth of knowledge with us.

Moving with Plus ONe

We held a FREE 8-week exercise class for people with neurological conditions or disabilities taught by Karen Grady of Pivot Movement Studio. Classes took place at Garfield Community Center with funding from Seattle Parks and Recreation.

In each class, participants worked to improve their strength and balance through various full-body movements. They also learned breathing techniques to destress and become more in tune with their body. Each exercise had an alternative movement for those in need. Our goals for Moving with Plus One included improving the overall health of participants, as well as creating a space to build a community.

Paint Your Freedom

Through vision boards, Plus One sought to help people find hope and inspiration through the power of creativity and visualization. A vision board is a collage of pictures, phrases, poems, quotes and other inspirational elements that visually represent what you want to experience more of in your life (or your work).

Each picture, word or phrase on your board can provide you with a visual target for your goals. It is a reflection of your passions, interests, and desires. A workshop was held to create vision boards, and manifest the dreams of those who attended.

STRUM with Plus One

Plus One partnered with Strum Seattle and Seattle Parks & Recreation to provide free ukulele lessons! This opportunity allowed individuals who have a neurological condition or are a caretaker/teacher for someone with one, to learn a new musical hobby from the comfort of their own home. No experience was needed!
